Hi, I’m Kathryn Shaffer.
Licensed Professional Counselor, Ed.S
I believe change is possible when you have a safe space to be heard and clear guidance to move forward.
I work with adults and couples navigating perimenopause, menopause, ADHD, neurodivergence, sleep problems, and relationship issues. Therapy is a place to gain the tools you need to get unstuck.
Whether you are navigating these struggles on your own or in a relationship, it is possible to feel confident and connected again. Therapy with me is nonjudgemental, clarifying, and action oriented.
My approach is a good fit if you’re ready to take meaningful steps toward the life and relationships you want. Clients often leave sessions feeling heard, confident, and clear in their next steps.
Specialties
-
The brain fog, sleep issues, mood swings, and physical changes all take a toll. With the right support, it’s possible to feel more grounded, confident, and like yourself again during this important life transition.
-
Managing daily tasks can feel exhausting, and starting important projects may feel overwhelming or impossible at times. Therapy can help you better understand how your brain works and build tools and systems that support a more confident, manageable daily life.
-
When one or both partners are neurodivergent, it can shape nearly every part of your relationship dynamic. Together, we can build deeper understanding, improve communication, and create the connection you both want to experience.
-
If you struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, or wake up not feeling rested this impacts every area of your life. Together we can uncover what might be causing your sleep problems and help you find true rest again.
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful tool that can help you heal from trauma and shift patterns that keep you feeling stuck. Through EMDR, many clients experience greater emotional freedom, relief from distressing experiences, and a deeper sense of ease in their daily lives and relationships.
-
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) helps you respond to anxiety, stress, self-doubt, and difficult emotions in healthier ways. Instead of feeling stuck in patterns that aren’t serving you, ACT helps you build tools to move forward with more confidence and intention.

The Therapy Process
-
We’ll start with a 15-minute free phone consultation. You’ll share what you’re looking for from therapy and I’ll share how I work to see if we are a good fit to work together.
-
In our first session, we’ll identify your goals for therapy. Our work will be focused on helping you reach those goals.
-
Our work will be tailored to your unique needs and goals. I create a space where you and/or your partner can freely share what’s weighing on you.
As you share what you’re struggling with I’ll help you feel more connected and clear in your experience. From there, we will come up with a way forward that works for you. I’ll offer actionable steps that you can apply right away.
-
The tools you build in our work will help you approach your life and relationships with more clarity, ease, and resilience. This doesn’t mean difficult things won’t happen, but that when they do you’ll know how to navigate them with confidence.
